Community Support March 2021
A sense of belonging is a strong connection to family, community/neighborhood, and school. Dr. Karyn Hall, Founder/Director DBT Center of Houston, in the March 24, 2014 issue of Psychology Today, views belonging as “a human need, just like the need for food and shelter.” You can’t build equity without people belonging and being connected. RE/MAX of Hot Spring Village makes efforts to touch the lives of our community through program support and sponsorship. Here are our efforts for March:
Cedar Mountain Boys and Girls Club – We delivered our first quarter payroll and commission donation to the club. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Saline County website states: “BGCA has implemented the programmatic strategy Every Member, Every Year, designed so that all clubs, no matter their size or resources, can partner with youth, parents, schools, and other community stakeholders to implement at least 1 of 3 approaches: academic enrichment and school engagement; targeted dropout prevention; and intensive intervention and case management. Our aim is to ensure that all club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.”
We continued organizational efforts and preparation for the April “Shred It” event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club. This event is scheduled for April 17th.
With May around the corner, we gladly added our sponsorship of Rotary Club Mother’s Day event. Last year’s event had to be turned into a “take out” event, but this year it is back to its esteemed annual “Champagne and Roses” Mother’s Day Celebration.
Not to leave out our four-legged community, we delivered logoed pet bowls to the HSV Animal Welfare League in support of the 30th Anniversary Walk and Wag-athon!
We wrapped up with a donation of smoke alarms and batteries to the HSV Fire Department to help them check, replace batteries, or install new smoke alarms in Hot Springs Village homes where the individuals are not physically able to do it themselves.
Now, more than ever, it is important to remain connected to our community and nurture that sense of belonging. RE/MAX of Hot Springs Village continues to reach out and touch the lives in our community.
